Inter are still some way from reaching an agreement to sign Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, despite long-standing interest.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Il Giorno, the Nerazzurri have been in lengthy talks over a transfer but negotiations have been postponed until next week after the two clubs failed to make a breakthrough.

Cagliari are ready to cash in on the Uruguay international but want an upfront fee, which Inter are unable to produce due to their delicate financial situation.

Failing that, the Sardinians may allow Nandez to leave on an initial loan with an obligatory purchase clause to be triggered next summer, but this would bring a substantial fee for the loan and Inter are attempting to bring the cost down.

Despite this, Nandez remains Inter’s priority and all focus is currently on attempting to finalise a deal for the 25-year-old former Boca Juniors midfielder before moving on to other targets.
