As their search for a replacement for Achraf Hakimi continues, Inter have prioritised PSV full-back Denzel Dumfries.

Hakimi departed for Paris Saint-Germain last month after a stellar debut season in Serie A and the champions are yet to secure an alternative for the right wing-back position.

However, as reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, Inter have settled on Netherlands international Dumfries following careful and lengthy analysis.

Any deal is complicated by PSV’s demands of €15-20 million, which would be beyond Inter’s capabilities unless they were able to agree to structure the deal in greater instalments.

The Nerazzurri have not given up hope though and contact has already been made with Dumfries’ agent, Mino Raiola.

Inter face competition for Dumfries however, with Premier League club Everton also keen to land the 25-year-old, although the Toffees must sell before they can commit to substantial transfer fees this summer.

Dumfries was part of the Netherlands’ Euro 2020 squad and scored against Ukraine and Austria.
