As he attempts to bring Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan back to the club, Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini has suggested that the Belgian would have a huge impact.

Nainggolan is out of favour at Inter and has enjoyed two loan spells at Cagliari, most recently in January, whilst also represented the Sardinian club between 2010 and 2014, and Giulini is in talks to bring him back.

In an interview with Italian television channel Rai yesterday, the President revealed why he was so keen to bring the 33-year-old back to his club.

“The most important thing is to create a strong group, as Italy did at Euro 2020. Nainggolan is one of the old guard and if he were to return, he could reignite the spirit of Cagliari,” Giulini declared.

Nainggolan currently has a year remaining on the contract he signed at upon joining from Roma in 2018 and is in talks to terminate his deal, paving the way for a return to Cagliari.

The former Belgium international has scored seven goals in 41 appearances for Inter in all competitions, whilst his two most recent loan spells at Cagliari have yielded seven goals in 51 games.
