Atalanta centre-back Berat Djimsiti believes that Inter and Juventus are the favourites for the Scudetto this season, whilst declaring Nerazzurri striker Romelu Lukaku to be his toughest opponent.

La Dea came third in Serie A last season and lost in the final of the Coppa Italia, whilst Lukaku fired Inter to a first league title since 2010, ending nine years of Juventus dominance.

In an interview published in yesterday’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Djimsiti admitted that those two were the best equipped teams to challenge for the title, despite Inter losing coach Antonio Conte and star wing-back Achraf Hakimi this summer.

“The Nerazzurri have Lukaku, who is the toughest forward I’ve come up against in Italy,” the Albania international claimed.

“I think they and Juve are still the teams to beat at the start. But also pay attention to the others, especially with all these great coaches back in Serie A. There could be a surprise.

“I don’t like to say what our goals are. We have to take it game by game. Every time I go out on the pitch I always want to win. Of course, we always want to improve on the previous year, however.”

Despite enjoying an impressive season last term, Atalanta fell away and were defeated by Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final by Juventus at the Mapei Stadium.

“The night we lost against Juve in Reggio Emilia, I was really bad. Third place in the league was ok, but this group deserved and deserves a trophy. Today I have moved on from the disappointment a bit, we have another season to do better now,” he added.
