Inter are planning to extend the contract of midfielder Nicolo Barella shortly, with the club hoping to tie down the 24-year-old amid interest from Premier League clubs.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that Barella is seen as a highly important player for the club’s project going forward and even as a future captain, and should renew with the club is expected soon.

The midfielder’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2024, and the Nerazzurri are looking to extend it a further year at higher salary terms to reward the player for his form and keep him happy at the club.

As it stands, the young midfielder earns a net of €2.5 million per season, an amount which is set to increase.

English sides Liverpool and Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring Barella’s situation most closely, but the Nerazzurri are optimistic that the player wants to stay and that the outcome of contract extension talks will be positive.
