Matias Vecino is among the players being targeted by Napoli as they search for a midfield signing to fill in for the injured Diego Demme.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the Partenopei are actively hunting for a central midfielder and the 29-year-old is one of their top targets.

Vecino was unable to play regularly last season due to injury problems, but he is still thought to be in the club’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

The Uruguayan could be tempted away, however, with Napoli reportedly interested in bringing him in during the summer transfer window.

Partenopei midfielder Diego Demme could miss the bulk of next season with a knee injury, and the club are actively searching for a replacement for the German, with Vecino among their targets alongside Borussia Monchengladbach’s Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria and Boubacar Kamara at Marseille, though they have yet to move in on any one target.
