Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are considering moving for Inter defender Stefan de Vrij this summer, but the Nerazzurri won’t consider letting him for for under €40 million.

This according to Italian news outlet la Repubblica, who report that the 29-year-old is a major target for the Spanish side, with head coach Diego Simeone an admirer of the defender.

The Nerazzurri are hoping not to break up the defensive trio of de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni, and Milan Skriniar who were at the heart of the best defensive record in Serie A last season, but they could consider allowing de Vrij to leave for a large offer, as a transfer fee for his departure would constitute pure capital gains given that he arrived for free from Lazio in the summer of 2018.

It remains to be seen whether Atletico will met the Nerazzurri’s demand, and whether the player would be amenable to a move, but for now the Nerazzurri have made their valuation of the Dutchman clear.
