Romelu Lukaku has given his thoughts about the changes at Inter headed into the upcoming season.

Speaking to Inter TV, as reported by FCInter1908, the Belgian striker spoke about his preparations heading into the beginning of the season, and about working with new head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Lukaku experienced some of the best form of his career last season, finishing top of Serie A for joint goals and assists and helping the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto in eleven years.

Despite the positivity the past season, challenges lay ahead if the Nerazzurri are to carry over their form into next season as they look to defend their Serie A crown.

Chief among the setbacks at the Giuseppe Meazza this summer is the departure of head coach Antonio Conte and his replacement with former Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi.

However, Lukaku is looking forward to getting to work with the new manager now that he’s back from his vacation and in pre-season training with the squad and with the new coach.

Asked about how his holidays went, the Belgian stated that “They went well, I was in New York for a few days, then I went to Miami, then to Turks and Caicos with my mom and my son, and then I went back to Miami. I rested a bit but I also trained to be in good shape and to start well. Now we have a few weeks to prepare for the seaso, we hope to do well and even improve on last year.”

Lukaku shared his impression of the new coach, and expressed confidence about the former Lazio boss’s suitability to take over from last season.

“We talked a lot the day the club announced he would become the new coach,” he said, “we also talked when I was at the European Championship. My brother [former Lazio player Jordan Lukaku] also told me a lot about him, he’s a good coach and I think he’ll help the team achieve great things. We hope to work together to continue the path we have started.”

Lukaku also gave his message to Inter supporters, stating “I’m really happy to be back, we hope to continue the path we started, to keep winning. Us players will work hard to make your dreams come true.”
