Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has received praise after his performance against Crotone in a friendly yesterday afternoon.

Published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper are glowing words after the Turkish midfielder scored a goal and made three assists in the pre-season clash with the Calabrian club.

Calhanoglu’s arrival from city rivals AC Milan promises to be a major signing for the Nerazzurri this summer, with the 27-year-old thought to have been brought in to replace the stricken Christian Eriksen’s contribution in the centre of the pitch.

As the Gazzetta notes, the new signing showed attacking flair during yesterday’s friendly but also meshed well with his teammates and helped control the game, and showed that he is likely to be an important player under new head coach Simone Inzaghi.

“In the construction of the new Inter,” writes the newspaper, “particular attention must be given to the inclusion of Hakan Calhanoglu.”

The Nerazzurri will count on numerous big names from last season as they look to defend the Scudetto, with players all over the pitch hoped to reprise the quality of their performances from under Antonio Conte for the new manager, but Calhanoglu could be essential to the new boss putting his stamp on the team.
