Former coach Francesco Guidolin has given his predictions for the upcoming Scudetto race, with the Italian seeing Inter and Juventus as the favourites for the competition.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, as reported by L’Interista, the 65-year-old predicts that the Nerazzurri will be among the top clubs in Serie A and praises new Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Guidolin’s managerial career spanned nearly three decades, and saw him managing prominent clubs in Serie A including Palermo, Udinese, Bologna, and Genoa as well as other clubs in Europe such as Monaco and Swansea City.

The Italian believes that Inzaghi has the right tactical principles and talents to bring success to this Inter squad, and likes the way that the former Lazio boss sets his teams up tactically speaking.

He believes that the return of manager Max Allegri will improve Juventus after their disappointing fourth place last season, but not so much that they will be clear of Scudetto holders Inter, stating that “With him Juve are the favourites together with Inter. The others are all close.”

Apart from the Bianconeri’s change on the sidelines, Guidolin also had words for Inter’s new coach, stating “I really like Inzaghi when he employs the 3-5-1-1 formation with the semi-striker behind the striker. Inzaghi can follow any tactical trajectory, he is a very intelligent and well-prepared coach.”

Guidolin was also asked about Inzaghi’s predecessor Antonio Conte and whether the Italian would be missed by the Nerazzurri, and he opined “Of course, he’s an extraordinary winner. But a little rest will be good for him too.”
