Inter are realising that they must sell Andrea Pinamonti if they want to sign somebody else as a backup to Romelu Lukaku ahead of the new Serie A campaign, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter have struggled for a long time with having a player who can adequately replace Romelu Lukaku when he is either injured or fatigued.

Alexis Sanchez has played the role as backup to Lautaro Martinez since he joined the Nerazzurri, but no one else has the same presence as the Belgian striker when he needs to be rested or is injured.

The primary target for Inter seems to be Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, who spent last season on loan at Genoa. The 22-year-old made 26 Serie A appearances for the Rossblu last season and picked up eight goals along the way.

Keita Balde is also an option for Inter, but Andrea Pinamonti must be sold first.
