Inter representatives will meet with Marcelo Brozovic and his father very soon to try and understand the financial problems with his contract negotiations, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, the meeting will take place next week and will likely be had face to face, but a remote meeting is also possible.

The Croatian midfielder’s contract runs out in 2022 so the club need him to sign a new one or they risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. He wants a significant increase on his current €4.2 million a year contract though.

When a swap deal with Paris Saint Germain involving Marcelo Brozovic and Leandro Paredes almost materialised last season, the wages he would have earned in France were €8 million a year.

It is expected though that the discussions will start with a figure of just above €5 million a year.
