Inter Target Nahitan Nandez’s Former Coach: “After Three Games He Was in Everyone’s Heart”

A former coach of Nahitan Nandez has implored the Nerazzurri to sign the Uruguayan, just like he did for Boca Juniors back in 2017, according to a report in the Italian print media.

Whilst speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Guillermo Barros Schelotto spoke incredibly highly of the player who is very close to becoming Inter’s second major signing of the transfer window after Hakan Calhanoglu.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto was a coach at Boca Juniors when the club signed Nahitan Nandez from Penarol back in 2017. He then made 36 appearances for Boca before his move to Cagliari in 2019.

“We needed heart and lungs in the middle of the field and we looked at Uruguay: in Peñarol there was Nahitan Nandez, a perfect purchase. Any advice for Inter? Take it now, do as we did four years ago.”

Guillermo Barros Schelotto went on to explain that it became immediately clear that Nahitan Nandez was a Boca Juniors type player, which tends to mean he is aggressive and brave and plays with high energy that is infectious for other players.

“We immediately understood that he was a Boca type: he was twenty-one and the personality of one of thirty. After three games he was in everyone’s heart: he is the kind of player who never spares himself on the pitch and knows how to excite.”

Nahitan Nandez is looking very close to joining Inter with decisive meetings expected early next week.
