Not all of Inter’s squad were away from training this weekend despite a break having been granted by manager Simone Inzaghi, with the players who returned to training last week remaining to get up to speed.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that Romelu Lukaku, Ivan Perisic, Matias Vecino, Alexis Sanchez, and Arturo Vidal all stayed and trained over the weekend.

Most of the squad had been allowed time off over the weekend as the head coach looked to give them a rest after having been training intensely for several weeks, but the five players who had just arrived last week after their extended vacations following international tournament participation instead prioritized remaining and getting caught up.

Lukaku and Vidal both made appearances in a friendly match against Crotone last Wednesday, but the Belgian in particular is a player whose time on the pitch Inzaghi hopes to increase in remaining friendly tests as he looks to form a good understanding with the striker.
