Inter are holding off on extending the contracts of Nicolo Barella, Lautaro Martinez, and Marcelo Brozovic until after the end of the transfer window.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the trio are all players who the Nerazzurri are ready to hand new contracts to.

However, Inter’s hope to avoid uncertainty over the trio’s situations and to send a message that transfer speculation cannot be used to force them to act hastily on any contract extension deals.

Brozovic is a player whose renewal the Nerazzurri are prioritizing, with the Croatian’s current deal set to expire at the end of June 2022.

However, the club have decided to allow the situation to remain until the end of the transfer window, at which point they will start talks over an extension.

Meanwhile, Martinez and Barella are two young players who have attracted significant transfer interest from top European clubs, and the Nerazzurri are hoping to secure both players’ futures by extending their current deals, and offering significant pay raises from the net €2.5 million each currently earns.

However, these talks will only come after the transfer window is closed at the end of the summer.

Finally, the club have no intentions of extending the contract of Ivan Perisic, who already earns a net of €5 million per season and is not part of the club’s long-term plans, though his immediate future remains uncertain.
