Inter could consider Chelsea’s latest offer worth €128 million for striker Romelu Lukaku too large to pass up on, with the English club prepared to spare no expenses to bring in the Belgian.

This according to Italian news outlet La Repubblica, who describe the offer as “irrefutable” in financial terms for both the club and the player.

Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of Lukaku in recent days, and have not been discouraged by rejections from both the player and club, preparing instead to convince both with enormous financial offers.

The Blues’ initial offer to Inter was for €90 million plus Marcos Alonso, or for €100 million in cash, but after the Nerazzurri refused this they have gone up significantly on the amount, to €120 million which could rise by another €8 million including add-ons.

This would be an enormous fee which the Nerazzurri are not in a position where they could confidently reject it it, given how helpful it could be in solving financial problems at the club, but the club are now waiting on the player’s decision.

In the coming hours there will be a meeting between the clubs, the player, and his agent Federico Pastorello, who Chelsea have a good relationship with, and more could be revealed about the future after this.

The 28-year-old has spoken of a desire to stay at the Nerazzurri, but with Chelsea putting an offer of €15 million net per season, possibly rising to €18 million, he could be swayed to make the switch.

Neither Inter nor Lukaku have any desire to part ways this summer, but with Chelsea pressing for him vehemently, they could each find the English club hard to turn down.
