Former head coach Massimo Drago has given his appraisal on how Inter could move on from Romelu Lukaku should the Belgian be sold to Chelsea.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, as reported by FCInterNews, the 50-year-old explained that he believes that Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata is the only player who the Nerazzurri can sign who has the right qualities to replace Romelu Lukaku.

Should Lukaku leave in the summer, the Belgian’s contributions would be virtually impossible to fully account for, having led Serie A in combined goals and assists last season as he inspired the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto in eleven years.

However, Zapata has looked like a player with a similar ability to dominate defenders and demonstrate the all-around play to make the team’s attack function.

The 30-year-old Colombian has managed 19 goals across all competitions in his last two seasons at Atalanta after scoring 28 the season prior to that.

“He is irreplaceable,” explained Drago of Lukaku, adding “the only one who could replace him is Zapata.”
