Should Romelu Lukaku leave Inter to join Chelsea, it is due to to his volition entirely and a decision he has made.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Belgian has decided to join the European champions because he likes their sporting project, rather than for economic reasons.

Lukaku appears very close to the exit door at Inter, with the club ready to accept Chelsea’s offer and the player not standing in the way of a deal as he had done when Manchester City attempted to sign him earlier in the summer.

According to the report, the player has arrived at the decision to join the English side after considering the project on a sporting level and wanting to pursue a new challenge at Stamford Bridge and redeem himself after the perceived disappointment of his first spell at the club.

The report continues that the player likely would have stayed on with the Nerazzurri had head coach Antonio Conte remained, but that he hasn’t been so adamant given the current state of the club’s sporting project.
