Inter are stepping up their pursuit of Lazio’s Joaquin Correa, with the club having made significant progress in talks with the player’s entourage.

This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that the Argentine will only arrive once Romelu Lukaku’s sale to Chelsea is confirmed.

With Lukaku close to the exit door, the Nerazzurri are working on plans to add players to the attack, and Correa is one of the main names on their list of targets.

The 26-year-old has worked with head coach Simone Inzaghi for several seasons while the Italian was in charge of the Biancocelesti, and the pair would each like a reunion, with the player not likely to take much time to settle into life under the new coach.

Lazio value the striker at around €30 million, but the Nerazzurri are prepared to meet their asking price once Lukaku’s sale is finalized, and they are close to agreeing with the player on a move as well.

However, the sale of Lukaku is a key and necessary condition to a move for Correa, with Chelsea ready to make an offer for the Belgian worth €120 million, and only once this is over the line will Correa arrive.
