Inter could target Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku should the Belgian be sold, but would struggle to meet his current club’s valuation.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that La Viola would demand at least €60 million for the 21-year-old, while the Nerazzurri would only be able to offer €40 million.
Should Lukaku depart, it will be for an enormous fee which would smash the Nerazzurri’s outgoing transfer record, with Chelsea ready to make an astronomical offer, but the club would only look to reinvest a certain percentage of it.
With the ownership of the club still determined to stabilize the financial situation, a large portion of the cash received could be used to cover management costs rather than being going into a replacement for the Belgian or elsewhere in the squad.
Accordingly, it is reported that about a third of the fee for the squad would be used to pursue a replacement for Lukaku in the centre-forward position, meaning that the club would like to spend around €40 million on a striker.
This would make negotiating with La Viola difficult, with the Tuscans determined to stick to their asking price for Vlahovic, and amount which the Nerazzurri could have a hard time meeting.
