Inter could prove unable to sign reported target Edin Dzeko from Roma, with Giallorossi boss Jose Mourinho refusing to allow the Bosnian to leave this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Portuguese tactician is not keen on seeing his squad disrupted at this stage and wants to keep the Bosnian as an important player for next season.

The Nerazzurri have identified Dzeko as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku should the Belgian be sold, and are thought to have stepped up their pursuit of the player.

However, former Inter manager Mourinho has intervened in the situation, and has discussed his desire to keep the 35-year-old in the squad going forward with Roma Sporting Director Tiago Pinto.

It remains to be seen if the Giallorossi could nevertheless be convinced to waver and allow Dzeko to leave for the right offer, but at the moment it appears that the Nerazzurri may have to look elsewhere for a centre-forward.
