Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with Inter for striker Romelu Lukaku, with the Nerazzurri sounding out replacements.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the Premier League club had offered €110 million plus Italian wing-back Davide Zappacosta, but Inter are holding out for payment in full rather than player exchanges.

A compromise is thought to have been reached, with Chelsea ready to pay €115m, and the newspaper reports that a deal is close to being struck and could be finalised today.

All parties are keen to get the transfer over the line as soon as possible and Inter are hoping to complete the sale quickly so as to begin the search for a successor, with Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata and Torino captain Andrea Belotti linked with a move.

Meanwhile, Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel is hoping to have Lukaku available as soon as possible, with the Blues set to kick off their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace next Saturday.
