Inter are still hoping to conclude a deal for Nahitan Nandez, but Cagliari are growing increasingly frustrated and have called him up for preseason friendlies.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Uruguay international remains high on coach Simone Inzaghi’s list of replacements for right wing-back Achraf Hakimi, following his move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

This was evidenced by Inter rejecting the chance to sign Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta after he was initially included in a proposal for Romelu Lukaku, although the Nerazzurri also remain interested in PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries.

Despite their long-standing desire to sign Nandez, Inter are yet to make a breakthrough in talks for a loan with an obligation to buy.

This has prompted Cagliari to call the 25-year-old up for their squad to take on Mallorca in a preseason friendly today, and the newspaper considers this a message to Inter to remind them that Nandez still belongs to the Isolani.
