With striker Romelu Lukaku close to completing a move to Chelsea, Inter may use some of the funds to sign PSV Eindhoven wing-back Denzel Dumfries, with agent Mino Raiola ready to resume talks.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, Lukaku’s departure will open the door for investment in the squad and Raiola will seize the opportunity to push his client towards the Nerazzurri.

Raiola had been in contact with Inter over a loan deal to send Andrea Pinamonti to Empoli, and is hoping to broker a move for Dumfries, who is available for €15-20 million and has informed PSV of his desire to leave.

New Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s first choice at right wing-back to replace Achraf Hakimi was Manuel Lazzarri from former club Lazio. However, Biancoceleste President Claudio Lotito is unwilling to sell to Inter following Inzaghi’s acrimonious departure from the club this summer.

The Nerazzurri have also been in talks to sign Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez, but Dumfries is now considered the more financially viable option.
