PSV Eindhoven coach Roger Schmidt has admitted that wing-back Denzel Dumfries has asked to be allowed to leave the club, amidst interest from Inter.

The Netherlands international has been targeted by the Nerazzurri as they seek to replace Achraf Hakimi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the transfer window.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of PSV’s Dutch Super Cup clash against Ajax, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Schmidt revealed that Dumfries was hoping to move on this summer.

“Everyone knows he wants to move. He submitted this request to PSV and as a club we have accepted it,” the German coach announced.

“This means that for the moment, he is not part of the first team plans.”

Inter have been keeping close tabs on the 25-year-old and are thought to be considering an approach for him before the close of the window at the end of this month.

Dumfries joined PSV from Heerenveen in 2018 and has scored 16 goals in 124 appearances for the club, helping them to second place in the Eredivisie last season.
