Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni has warned that the Nerazzurri are not ready to relinquish their Serie A title lightly, as the new season edges ever closer.

The Italian international featured in today’s 2-0 win over Parma in a preseason friendly, as Inter prepare to defend the title they won in May.

Speaking to Inter TV after the final whistle, and as reported by FCInter1908.it, Bastoni offered his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s challenge of winning the title again, particularly under new coach Simone Inzaghi.

“We have just started, the coach is new, we need to understand his system, but we are ready to rely on him to do well this year,” Bastoni claimed.

“These are important tests because we have little time to prepare for the league campaign. We have a Tricolor to defend and we will do everything to defend it on the pitch.”

After helping Inter to the Scudetto, Bastoni enjoyed further success as he was part of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020, and he was looking forward to another positive season.

“I feel good. Especially after winning the European Championship, you come back feeling that you still want to win more. I’m happy to have met my teammates again, we hope to have a great year.

“Becoming a father is a great feeling. I have found the stability I need even in my private life and it allows me to think only of the pitch,” the 22-year-old concluded.

Bastoni joined Inter from Atalanta in 2017 before returning to La Dea on loan for two seasons, and has made 74 appearances for the league champions since returning.
