Inter are closing in on two new strikers after reaching agreements with Roma’s Edin Dzeko and Duvan Zapata of Atalanta, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

In a tweet, Pedulla confirmed that the Nerazzurri had made progress in their search for replacements for Romelu Lukaku, who is on the verge of a return to Premier League club Chelsea.

Inter had hoped to bring in two new attackers once Lukaku departed, and they are optimistic that both Dzeko and Zapata can complete their respective moves over the coming week.

“Inter would like to sign Dzeko by Tuesday and Zapata by Thursday, they have agreements with both,” Pedulla claimed.

Roma veteran Dzeko only has a year left on his contract at the Stadio Olimpico and is seen as a cost-effective option, with the Giallorossi thought to be ready to let him move.

The Nerazzurri must still find an agreement with Atalanta for Zapata too, meanwhile, who has enjoyed three prolific campaigns in Bergamo. The Colombia international has scored 66 goals in 130 appearances for La Dea.
