Inter have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Lazio forward Joaquin Correa and the Argentina international is on the verge of completing a switch to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

According to a tweet from Italian Radio Radio journalist Ilario Di Giovambattista, the Nerazzurri are on the brink of finalising a deal for Correa after long-standing interest this summer.

“Correa will be sold to Inter. Only official confirmationis remaining. This is what the editorial staff of Radio Radio Lo Sport have gathered,” Di Giovambattista declared.

New Inter coach Simone Inzaghi had been keen to reunite with Correa after departing Lazio in May, although the Nerazzurri had struggled to meet the capital club’s demands for him.

Inter have been in the market for new strikers after sanctioning the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, in a deal expected to be worth a Serie A record €115 million.

Correa joined Lazio from Sevilla in 2018 and has scored 30 goals in 118 appearances for the Aquile, winning the Coppa Italia in his debut season.
