Inter saw an approach for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, which included an exchange of midfielder Stefano Sensi, rejected outright.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri had hoped to replace Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku with Vlahovic and the Serbian is a top target for coach Simone Inzaghi.

However, Fiorentina’s €60 million asking price is beyond Inter’s financial means and efforts to bring the cost down by offering Italian international Sensi in return were not enough to persuade Viola President Rocco Commisso to part with his star man.

Fiorentina have been tracking Sensi for some weeks now and Inter had hoped that his inclusion could swing the deal.

As they look to cut costs and bring the budget down, Inter owners Suning have so far shown no inclination to sanction high-value transfer deals and so any move for Vlahovic is thought to be unlikely this summer.

Vlahovic netted 21 Serie A goals in 37 appearances for the Viola last season to end the campaign as the league’s fourth highest scorer.
