Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez refused to travel for a preseason friendly with the squad after feeling that the club had gone back on an agreement to sell him to Inter.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Uruguay international did not turn up at the airport yesterday to join his teammates ahead of their flight to Spain to take on Mallorca in a friendly, infuriating the club.

Nandez has been a long-term target of Inter and the Nerazzurri have been trying to finalise a loan with an obligation to buy, but are yet to strike a deal with Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini.

The former Boca Juniors midfielder is adamant that he had an agreement with Giulini, allowing him to leave the club for a reasonable price should Cagliari avoid relegation last season, and feels that this is not being held up.

Indeed, he had expected the transfer to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to be a formality upon his return from international duty at the Copa America, and his frustration at the lack of progress prompted him to refuse to travel to Mallorca.

Nandez has also agreed personal terms in principle with Inter and is ready to pen a four-year contract worth €3 million per season.
