Inter have confirmed that midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is ruled out of today’s preseason friendly against Serie B club Parma with a minor injury.

In a tweet on the club’s official Twitter account, the Nerazzurri explained that the Turkey international had picked up a minor muscular strain during the final training session before the match, earlier this morning.

Calhanoglu will therefore sit out the match at the Stadio Ennio Tardini as a precaution, with Inter taking care to avoid further aggravation of the strain.

The 27-year-old is a new arrival at Inter, having joined on a free transfer from crosstown rivals AC Milan earlier this summer, and has thus far featured prominently in preseason.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will now be without the attacking midfielder as he takes on the recently relegated Parma, as Inter step up their preparations for the defence of their Scudetto crown and the new Serie A season in two weeks.
