Inter are close to the signing of Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata, with negotiations between the two clubs having moved forward in the last few hours.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Colombian will arrive as part of the Nerazzurri’s replacement of Romelu Lukaku in the centre-forward position.

The Nerazzurri are wasting now time in replacing Romelu Lukaku with the Belgian’s departure for Chelsea now close at hand, and Zapata appears to have overtaken Lazio’s Joaquin Correa as the club’s choice for a second striker to bring in after Roma’s Edin Dzeko, also thought to be signing for the club imminently.

It now appears that only a few details remain to be worked out between the Nerazzurri and La Dei to complete a deal for the 30-year-old.

Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi will hope that after the upheaval of Lukaku’s departure he can have Zapata available to him very soon, so that he can begin to quickly work on his new attacking project.
