Alexis Sanchez is set to miss at least the first two matches of the Serie A season, with the Chilean’s recovery from a calf injury expected to rule him out from action for another few weeks.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the only strikers available to the Nerazzurri against Genoa, before signings are made, will be youngsters Martin Satriano and Eddie Salcedo, with Lautaro Martinez ruled out through suspension and Andrea Pinamonti expected to leave for Empoli.

It had been hoped by the club that Sanchez would be able to make his return from injury in time to fill in for Martinez during the Nerazzurri’s Serie A opener against Genoa on August 21, but this now looks to be off the cards.

Moreover, the 32-year-old will likely still be a risk to make an appearance the following weekend against Verona, as a full recovery still looks to be a few weeks away as he trains to return to full fitness from a calf injury.

The Chilean sustained an aggravation of a calf injury while playing against Brazil in the Copa America with his country on July 12, and has been recovering from the knock ever since.
