Inter wing-back Valentino Lazaro’s agent Max Hagmayr has met with Benfica about a possible move for his client.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who note that the main obstacle to the Portuguese giants signing Lazaro could be the player’s high salary.

Lazaro is a player in the shop window at Inter, having spent the past season and a half on loan at Newcastle United and then Borussia Monchengladbach, and not in the plans of head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Benfica are among the clubs with the strongest interest in bringing in the Austrian for next season, and they are continuing their pursuit of his signature having met with his agent.

However, the 25-year-old earns a net of €2 million per season with the Nerazzurri, and this amount could be difficult for the Portuguese club to match, making it doubtful that they could sign him without further talks to overcome the salary issue.
