A sporting director at Cagliari has shed some light on the situation around Nahitan Nandez and his seemingly now very slim chances of joining Inter this summer, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset before Cagliari’s Coppa Italia match at home to Pisa, Stefano Capozucca explained that no agreement was ever definitively found between the two clubs which is why the transfer did not materialise in the way the player had hoped.
“For us, he is an important player and to sell him we have to do so with certain guarantees and figures. With Inter these guarantees and these figures have not been there and the transfer has vanished.”
In a slightly more upsetting part of the interview, Stefano Capozucca explained how upset Nahitan Nandez is that his dream move seems to have gone away now after it seemed so close to completion.
“The player was bitter and disappointed, but life goes on and we move on.”
The Uruguayan midfielder was expected to be the successor to Achraf Hakimi who left the club earlier in the window for Paris Saint Germain but that now seems like it will be a role for Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven.
