Inter have commemorated the life of Italian doctor and human rights activist Gino Strada, founder of the group Emergency which provides free medical care to victims of war and famine.

The Nerazzurri’s official Twitter account released a tweet marking the passing of the surgeon from heart failure at the age of 73.

Strada was an iconic figure whose charitable spirit and hard work to help others made him a loved figure in Italy as well as around the world.

The club’s tweet reads: “The club is crying for @GinoStrada, a great man, his history and his commitment remain unforgettable for anyone. Thanks for everything.”
