Inter striker Lautaro Martinez could be the first player that the club holds talks with in regard to a contract extension, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter are ready to sit down with the player and his entourage and finally put an end to the long-running transfer speculation around the player.

Lautaro Martinez’s agent is seeking a deal worth €6 million a year which would make him one of the best-paid players at the club. This figure may well be too high for Inter but there is will on both sides to reach an agreement.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have reassured Simone Inzaghi that Lautaro Martinez will not be sold despite interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The sudden sale of Romelu Lukaku has scared many Inter fans into thinking the same will happen to Lautaro Martinez this summer.
