Nahitan Nandez could still join Inter from Cagliari this summer to play a role in the midfield rather than at right-back, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, it would require Lucien Agoume going out on loan for Inter to continue pursuing Nahitan Nandez for their midfield depth.

Inter had looked set to sign the Uruguayan in order to replace Achraf Hakimi who joined Paris Saint Germain earlier this summer, but now the club look set to announce the signing of Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven to take that role.

The versatility of Nahitan Nandez means that he can still be of use to Inter if the two clubs reach an agreement very soon. The player is currently refusing to train with Cagliari as he believes the club are breaking a promise that they would let him join a bigger club this summer.
