An ex-Dutch footballer who spent many years playing in Belgium has shown how highly he rates Inter’s young Belgian centre-back Zinho Vanheusden, according to a report in the Belgian media.

Whilst speaking to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Johan Boskamp explained how bright of a future he feels that Zinho Vanheusden has both for Inter and particularly for his national team.

Zinho Vanheusden was not involved in Euro 2020 for Belgium but Johan Boskamp clearly feels that the centre-back should have been taken along for the experience by Roberto Martinez.

“Honestly, I was hoping that Roberto Martinez would bring Zinho Vanheusden to the European Championships so that he could see him.”

The Belgian defender was signed by Inter from Standard Liege back in 2015 and his since spent time on loan back in Liege as well as briefly moving back there permanently. He is now an Inter player and has been loaned to Genoa.

The plan is that he will gain Serie A experience with Genoa and be ready for a role at Inter in the 2022/23 season.

“I like Zinho a lot. Over time, he can become the new leader of the defence of the national team. At Genoa he plays in a team that remains entirely on the defensive.”
