Ex-Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has finally published his public message to Inter fans detailing his thoughts about leaving the club for Chelsea this week, according to a report in the Italian media today.
As has been reported by FcINternews, Romelu Lukaku clearly feels very emotional about the way he ended up leaving Inter. He explained how much he has enjoyed playing for the club and how important the fans have been for him.
“When I arrived at Inter I immediately felt that I would do well for this club. The love and welcome I received at Malpensa airport was the beginning of a beautiful story.”
The Belgian striker who used to play for Everton and Manchester United also credited the fans with picking him and the team up after the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla in 2020. Inter went on to win the Scudetto the following year and Romelu Lukaku credits the fans with that.
“The first season ended as hard as possible, but you guys gave me the strength to keep pushing and we did it as a team, that’s why we became champions.”
He finally asked the Inter fans to understand his decision to move to Chelsea given it provides him with a very clear chance to win trophies at the club he was at as a young boy.
“I hope you understand my decision to move to Chelsea. It’s the chance of a lifetime for me and I think at this moment in my career it’s the chance I’ve always dreamed of.”
