New Inter signing Denzel Dumfries is excited for the next step in his career and believes that the Nerazzurri are the right club for him to experience success at.
Speaking to the social media channel of his former club PSV, as reported by FCInterNews, the 25-year-old explained that conversations with his international teammate and Inter defender Stefan de Vrij played a role in convincing him that the Nerazzurri are a top club and represent the perfect destination for him.
For Dumfries, it is important to make the move to a club with a significant reputation and base of support, and to be able to compete for trophies at this stage of his career.
The Dutchman shows a hunger to make an impact on the pitch and drive the club to success, and he believes that Inter are the right fit for his mindset and talent.
Dumfries described Inter as “A team that plays in the Champions League and became Italian champion last season. Everyone knows the club. It’s a club with a large fanbase and many enthusiastic supporters all over the world.”
He continued, “Now things are moving fast, but there will be a moment when I realize that it is the right next step, especially when I look at where I come from.”
The 25-year-old also believes that he will perform well in the tactical framework employed by Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi, stating that “The five-defender system they use suits me.”
Dumfries is also glad to be linking up with an international teammate at the Giuseppe Meazza.
“I talked a lot with Stefan de Vrij when we were with the Dutch national team,” Dumfries continued, “and he also said it’s a fantastic club.”
“When we played at San Siro in the Champions League,” the Dutchman noted, “I thought: ‘Wow!’ Of all the group games we played back then, the best atmosphere, despite having alsoplayed at Camp Nou and Wembley.”
