Fabio Capello has had his say on the state of Inter heading into the new season after what has been a summer of big change, according to a report in the Italian media.

Whilst speaking to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the ex-England manager made it clear that he does not think Inter are in as bad a shape as many people would have you believe.

It has been suggested by many fans and pundits that Inter have disassembled the Scudetto winning team by losing Antonio Conte and selling Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi. Fabio Capello thinks there is still a great spine to the team.

“The coach has left, two champions have left, but the chassis remains of good quality. Dzeko is perfect to replace someone like Lukaku. Calhanoglu has important shots. Simone Inzaghi can charge the group with a few words.”

The other team that Fabio Capello discussed in depth was Juventus, whom he believes are now the favourites to win the Scudetto. Massimiliano Allegri has returned to the club that he won five titles with and Fabio Capello believes it will not quite be so easy to pick up where he left off.

“Juve starts in pole position after the transfers of Inter. The expectations are all on Allegri and I say it dispassionately: it will not be easy to repeat the successes of the previous cycle.”
