Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano has made clear that the Argentine wants to stay at the club going forward.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, Camano explained that Martinez is happy at the Nerazzurri and would like to extend his current contract with the club.

The 23-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2023, but the Nerazzurri want to agree a new contract soon, and Camano confirms that a meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday in which a contract extension will be discussed, and in which the aim is to promptly agree a deal.

Camano leaves no doubt as to Martinez’s intentions, with the agent clarifying that the Argentine will do whatever he can to stay at the Giuseppe Meazza, where he is happy and wants to experience more success.

“Lautaro wants to stay at Inter,” Camano said, “He believes in the Nerazzurri project and is aiming to win another Scudetto.”

He also confirmed that contract talks are on the agenda very soon, stating that “A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.”

On the striker’s intentions, Camano stated that “We will do everything possible to stay in the Nerazzurri. Martinez is very happy in Milan, he has an excellent relationship with his teammates and with the new coach.”

“He has considered many offers,” the agent continued, “but at no point has he taken any of them seriously. He believes – and we believe – that there is still life at Inter.”

Camano further explained that Martinez is not overly concerned with the money involved in contract talks, and is leaving the club and his agent to sort out his wages.

“Lautaro is not talking about money,” he stated, “but about football and playing. Money is up to your agent. All Martinez can say how happy he is in Milan and with the team.”

On the question of adjustments with a new deal, he said, “I can tell you that I think you need to adapt your situation, to the new situation.”

Asked whether Martinez is now the top striker at Inter following Romelu Lukaku’s departure Camno stated that “We hope so, we will do everything possible to make it as you say.”

Asked whether the Argentine had anything about his talks with Lukaku following the Belgian’s departure, the agent explained that “They are private matters, between the two of them. He didn’t tell me anything.”

Camano made clear that the 23-year-old has no interest in leaving for a Premier League club, stating that “He wants to win the Scudetto again with Inter, have a good Champions League campaign with the Nerazzurri, and as I said, at the moment he isn’t considering leaving Italy at all.”

The agent closed by confirming of Martinez that “He believes in the Nerazzurri project.”
