Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s agent is expected to meet with the Nerazzurri this Wednesday to accelerate talks on a contract extension for the Argentine.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, who report that the will of both the club and the player is to wrap up discussions soon to secure the 23-year-old’s future at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter are determined to keep hold of Martinez following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, and to this end they are wasting no end on trying to progress contract extension talks.

Given that the club have set a valuation of €80 million on Martinez, and given his centrality to the club and the quality of his performance, the striker and his entourage are seeking a salary increase to at least double the net €2.5 million per season he currently receives.

The Argentine is a target for a number of major European clubs, including Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham, and the desire of the club is to make clear that his future is at the Giuseppe Meazza and to have him concentrate solely on the pitch.
