Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has firmly declined the interest of English side Tottenham Hotspur, and wants to stay on with the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Argentine and the Nerazzurri are set for contract talks and that the will is to find an agreement despite interest from Spurs and other major European clubs.

Martinez has been the subject of heavy interest from the Premier League recently in addition to being a known target of Atletico Madrid in Spain, but the Nerazzurri want to secure his future and send a signal that he is not for sale.

Two major sales have already been made for key squad members from last season’s Scudetto squad, and the will is not to lose another one, while the player’s priority is also to extend his stay.

Negotiations will commence tomorrow with a meeting between the club and the 23-year-old’s entourage, and the initial demand is expected to be for over €6 million, far more than the €4.5 million figure which had been discussed earlier in the year when the striker was represented by a different agent.

However, the player is keen to stay and as with the club, wants negotiations to be wrapped up quickly so his future can be confirmed.
