Inter could look to sign Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli should Alexis Sanchez be set for an extended spell on the sidelines through injury.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reported on air moments ago that the Nerazzurri could look to bring the 30-year-old in during this transfer window.

The report continues that should Inter sign Insigne it would not affect their search for a striker over the rest of the transfer window.

Meaning the Nerazzurri would still continue their quest to sign one of Lazio’s Joaquin Correa or Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram.

The Nerazzurri have been monitoring Insigne’s situation with the Partenopei captain out of contract with his club next summer and renewal talks stalled.

However, Inter could accelerate their pursuit should they feel that Sanchez is not reliable due to his persistent long-term injuries.

The Chilean has been recovering from a calf injury for much of the summer but he will not be back until at least September and there is no certainty of when.

Insigne could be quickly brought in as a replacement if his injuries are expected to rule him out for a significant portion of the upcoming season.

However, it remains to be seen whether Inter would be able to quickly agree a deal with Napoli should they swoop as the end of the transfer window looms ever closer.
