Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata is still a major target for Inter in their search for a striker, though they could face problems in signing him.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Colombian wants to join the Nerazzurri and that he could still be brought in should his current club find a replacement.

Inter are struggling to find an agreement with Atalanta on a transfer for Zapata, with the club having been working on bringing in the 30-year-old for some time, and there are questions as to whether they can make progress in time to complete his signing this summer.

The player’s agents are in Italy to discuss his future with La Dei, and their aim is to persuade the Bergamo-based club to allow him to leave with his desire to join Inter.

However, they have not yet identified a satisfactory replacement, and for this reason would be reluctant to let him depart and join the Nerazzurri.

Should they sign a replacement, however, the player and the Nerazzurri have not given up hope on a move happening before the transfer window shuts.
