Borussia Monchengladbach Sporting Director Max Eberl has confirmed that Inter have not yet made a formal offer for Gladbach striker Marcus Thuram.

Speaking to German news outlet Gladbachlive, the executive updated on the status of the 24-year-old who is a major target for the Nerazzurri.

Thuram has reportedly been proposed as a possible target to the Nerazzurri by his agent Mino Raiola, and Eberl stated that he has a good working relationship with Raiola, which could be a positive sign in the chase for Thuram.

“I am on excellent terms with Mino Raiola,” said the Sporting Director, making clear the important role that could be played by the agent in facilitating a move for the Frenchman to Inter before the transfer window is shut.

On the possibility of a transfer, Eberl made clear that the German club would prefer to keep Thuram in their squad for the upcoming season, but also that the player could well be on the move.

“I think Thuram can do even more, and can best demonstrate it at Gladbach,” said Eberl, “He has incredible potential and dynamism.”

He continued, “He is a Gladbach player and we would not want to give up on him. As for what will happen until the end of the transfer market, I cannot rule anything out.”

He also explained that so far no offer has arrived from the Nerazzurri, stating that “The fact is that we would be extremely reluctant to sell Marcus, and we would do so reluctantly. But no offer has come from Inter.”
