Young Inter striker Martin Satriano’s agent has given updates on the 20-year-old’s future amid a whirlwind preseason and uncertainty about his future with possible links away on loan.
Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Uruguayan’s agent Nick Maytum explained that the young striker is only focused on his current club.
Satriano followed up an impressive campaign with the Primavera team last season with a preseason in which he has caught the eye of many admirers with his performances and goals in friendlies.
The Uruguayan already looks ready to begin his career in Serie A with Inter, though he could also depart elsewhere to gain more regular experience in senior football as a regular starter.
The Nerazzurri will want to make sure they take the correct approach to getting the best out of Satriano’s talent, though right now he is doing well training and playing with the senior squad.
On transfer rumours, Maytum stated that “I assure you that Martin does not pay much attention to the media. He knows that to get far he still has a long way to go. And indeed, now he is working even harder because he is aware that only with training, and not with words, can you mature as a player.”
“His father was a professional footballer, he knows the rules of the game,” he continued.
“Martin was sure he would learn a lot by being close to champions like Lautaro and under the guidance of a great coach who respects my client, like Inzaghi. He takes every hour, indeed, every minute, to become a stronger player,” said the agent.
Maytum was unsure if Satriano could make his debut in Serie A against Genoa on Saturday, stating that “We do not know if he will take to the pitch, it depends on Inzaghi. But if he does play, he will certainly be enthusiastic and not at all afraid to prove himself in such a major stadium. Everyone dreams of such a debut. And for Martin it would be crazy to make his professional debut in the Scala del Calcio.”
Maytum continued, “Martin has an excellent relationship with the coach and with his staff. Now it’s up to him to be ready when the coach calls.”
“At the moment he is totally focused on Inter,” he said of Satriano’s current priorities, “He hopes to make his debut against Genoa and will do his talking on the pitch. I don’t know how many expected him to score nine goals in five games [in preseason] as he did.”
Of links away, he said that “We know he is being watched by many. Every decision for his future will be made in his best interest, in full agreement with the Nerazzurri management. Right now he is still a young man who wants to establish himself. But one day he aims to be the first-choice Nerazzurri attacker.”
Maytum continued, “I have always believed in him and in his potential. He is already there also on a physical level.”
“Martin knows how to be respected on the pitch,” he explained, “And if he were to play and score against Genoa it would be a dream come true. Not a departure, but an arrival.”
Of the player’s new nickname, “Satri-goal,” Maytum stated that it’s “A good nickname, even if he’s not the first one who’s had it.”
