Former AC Milan defender Luca Antonini has given his predictions for the season, and believes that his former club will be in the hunt for the Scudetto alongside Inter and Juventus.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, the 39-year-old rated the Rossoneri’s chances highly, and suggested that Inter’s biggest problem in defending their Scudetto crown will be the loss of Romelu Lukaku.

This summer has been one of upheaval for the Nerazzurri and for every other Italian club, and their city rivals have been weakened by the losses of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu (the latter to Inter), and it remains to be seen how each of the biggest sides will cope.

For Antonini, it is the Rossoneri who are not to be underestimated, and he believes that they are still stronger than Juventus, who they finished ahead of in the table last season, and capable of competing with an Inter team who have lost Lukaku.

“Juve are weaker than Milan despite certain individuals, and Inter have lost Lukaku,” he stated, “We [Milan] mwill miss Gigio [Donnarumma], but this Milan can still compete with everyone and they know it. This is their strength.”
